Ian first discovered his love of the water at a young age being enrolled in the local SCUBA rangers program. Obsessed with being underwater and what that world had to offer he took his first official SCUBA course at 17 and became an avid SCUBA diver. Eventually the challenge wasn’t there anymore and moved on to breath-hold diving for an added obstacle and reward. After completing his Divemaster certification in Cozumel, Mexico and Instructor Development Course in the British Virgin Islands, Ian learned how to teach from some of the most renowned course directors of SCUBA in the Caribbean. Ian now brings all that knowledge and insight into his freedive and breath-hold instruction. Choosing to teach Performance Freediving International courses because of their rigorous instructor standards and expectations. He won’t sacrifice quantity for quality. It is always a low student-to-instructor with Ian at Northwest Freediving.
